Lethal Force

Lethal Force, released by Unearthed Films, is one of, if not the only, straight out action film in their catalog. And when I say action film, I mean ACTION FILM!

FILM- Jack is having a really bad day; his wife has just been murdered, and his son kidnapped, by the diabolic crime lord Mal. Mal insists that if Jack wants his son, he will bring him the notorious killer Savitch. Savstich is one of Jack's friends, and the epitome of an action hero. All attempts to capture him end in Mal's goons being left broken and busted. Soon Jack complies, for his son's sake, and takes Savitch in. How will Savitch take Jack's betrayal? What hideous tortures does Mal have in store for Savitch? And when will the violence ever stop?

I really don't like to review action films, because I feel that I don't do them justice. This review is a prime example of this. If I described every action scene, there would be no reason to watch the movie. If I gave away the major plot highlights, it would spoil the film. What I can say however, is this is an amazingly fun film. The quick banter between Savitch and the goons is utterly hilarious, and the action is over the top. One such occasion is dropping the clip from a pistol, then kicking it back in. From the first few seconds to the end credits, this flick s LOADED with action. This film has a higher body count than any James Bond film out there. The ending is a bonanza of cheesy action and humorous one liners, and I really don't see why more people don't love this movie. This easily is one of the most overlooked films on the Unearthed label; you're missing out on a fun little 80's style action flick if you haven't added this one to your collection yet. 9/10

PICTURE/ AUDIO- The picture on this film is unusual. Again, I'm stumped when reviewing this one. The quality is kind of low, and it has a fairly soft look to it; epically in bright scenes. This effect reminds me alot of Deadbeat at Dawn. While the film doesn't look similar to Deadbeat, they both contain the same over the top action. The picture quality, again, adds nothing, nor does it take away. 8/10. The audio is really good, and mirrors the picture quality well. There is the expected, but few, pops and cracks; along with some volume fading. This is nothing major, and shouldn't affect your viewing experience... Or alter the fun factor of this flick. 8/10.

EXTRAS- The fun of the feature is only mirrored by the fun of the extra features. The disk contains: director's commentary, director's short films, trailers for Unearthed Films releases, photo gallery, and an action figure collection. The action figure collection is a very interesting and imaginative slide show. It is essentially just custom figures of the characters in the film, but they even topped themselves by adding a play set of Mal's lair, and listing the figure's "action features". Fun extras for a fun film. 8/10.
